About

Welcome to Foundations of Shamanic Journeying: Origins, Cosmology & Rhythm — a five-hour online immersion designed to ground you in the ancient roots and core principles of shamanic practice. This course explores where the word shaman comes from, how these traditions emerged within the nomadic cultures of Siberia, Tibet, and Central Asia, and why their worldview continues to influence modern shamanic work today. Together, we will explore the distinction between ordinary and non-ordinary reality, understanding how shamans perceived layered states of consciousness and moved between them with purpose and clarity. You’ll learn about traditional cosmology — the three-world model and the symbolic landscape through which shamans navigated — not as a belief system to adopt, but as a map that illuminates how different cultures made sense of spirit, nature, and the unseen. We will also dive into the essential role of rhythm and sound. You’ll discover why the drum became the central tool of trance work, how the beat affects the brain, and what it means to “ride the drum” into altered awareness. This section lays the groundwork for your future journeying practice without guiding you into a vision — that will be part of your next steps course, as we emback on the Drum Journey to Meet our Spirit Allies. By the end of this course, you will have a solid, respectful, culturally aware foundation for understanding shamanic practices from their origins. This course offers knowledge, context, and cosmology — the essential groundwork for deeper experiential work to come.
